small and not much to look at but man, they have really good food...try their soup, you won't regret it.
i eat there every day. no heartburn or indigestion if I stick with their food . The staff never ever get's it wrong. Always remember the napkins and utensils on deliveries. Great staff! I would give 10 stars if I could.

We stopped here today for the first time and ordered the turkey and cheese sub. We both have big appetites so we got 2 large subs and I can honestly say one fed us so we had plenty to enjoy 2 meals! It was absolutely delicious and we will be back!
Updated review ... 4 years later I am pleased to say that the business is just as good as the first time I went here. No corners are being cut and quality is the name of the game. NJ is a great place to get subs. In LA its hard to find good subs, chinese food or pizza. The cold cuts at Ye Old Sub Base are fresh ... they don't taste like your average run of the mill cheap sub shop stuff. Fresh boiled ham, properly spiced salami ... only the good stuff. The sub bread is fantastic, the veggies crisp and fresh and the soups are calorie laden but so good. (Beer and cheddar soup served with fresh crusty bread!) The prices are great too ... just make sure you know what you are getting. A large will feed 3 people. A small or half size will easily satisfy one person with a good sized appetite. The shop is cute ... full of antiques and it has that bohemian old time feel. Could use a bit more seating areas but not sure where you would put them. Maybe change from tables and booths to a counter with stools? This is one of my favorite sub shops in the US. The Italian sub is amazing and I rarely get others. I need to start expanding but why mess with a classic?
The best subs anywhere. The homemade soups are phenomenal, especially the beer cheese. This is a must go to so put it on your list of sub shops to check out.
